Weekly ANNOUNCEMENTS

Announcements for the Week of May 5, 2024

WE WELCOME OUR GUESTS:  We are glad to have you worship with us today. We ask our guests to please sign our guest register.  If you have any questions, please ask any member or Pastor.

EVANGELISM THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:  Today we heard Jesus tell His disciples, “This is what is written and so it must be: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things.”   (Luke 24:46-48 EHV)  We are witnesses of the great things that Jesus has done through the living and enduring Word of God.  Share the great things Jesus has done so others might repent and believe in the One who conquered death for them.

THOSE TO KEEP IN OUR PRAYERS:  Raymond Herbst, Dave Mlostek, Bill Gasperich (husband of Cheryl Gasperich), Pastor Dick Winters, Francis Dittrich, Judy Wright, Mary Porath, and Linda Buchanan. We pray for all of our shut-ins. We pray for our Synod and our missionaries. We pray for our troops, our leaders in the congregation, and in our city, state and nation. We pray for our straying members and those who don’t know Jesus.

BIBLE CLASS:  Today we will pick up our study of Romans 8 verse 31.  We will see how God’s love is more than we can understand.

CATECHISM:  This Wednesday, May 8th at 4:30 p.m.  For 8th graders only.

CHURCH COUNCIL MEETS:  on Tuesday, May 7th at 6 p.m.

EXAMINATION OF OUR CONFIRMANDS:  will take place on Thursday evening at 6 p.m.  It will take about a half hour.  Everyone is invited to come and hear our young people give a confession of their faith from the truths they learned from God’s Word.  This year’s 8th grade confirmands are Dylan Bruce and Alana Nault.

QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING:  was last Sunday after late worship.  The agenda and reports are on the cabinet in the hallway.

NEW Forward in Christ:  The new Forward in Christ for May is available for you to pick up on the cabinet in the hallway.  Please pick up a copy for encouraging articles and news about our synod.  Share it or some articles with those who might need some encouragement when you are done.

NEW CALENDAR:  The May church calendar is now available for you to pick up on the cabinet in the hallway.

NEW Meditations:  The Meditations daily devotion booklet that begins June 2nd is out on the cabinet in the hallway.  Please pick up a copy for your daily devotions and share with someone who needs encouragement in God’s Word.

CONFIRMATION COMING UP:  This year’s confirmands will be confirmed on Sunday, May 12th in the 10:30 worship service.  There will be a fellowship to welcome them as communicant members after the 10:30 a.m. service.  All are welcome.

ENDOWMENT GIFT:  St. Paul’s Hyde Congregation decided to share some of their remaining assets with our Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.  Their gift of $100,000.00 has been placed into The St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church – Hyde, MI Endowment Fund for distribution to students studying to be Pastors based on their financial need.  We praise our God for this gracious gift that will help bring the gospel to many more in the future through the ministry of St. Paul’s.  We pray that it may assist and encourage many students as they aspire to serve in the pastoral ministry. – A copy of the letter is on the bulletin board in the hallway.

LWMS NEWS: All ladies of Salem are members of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS) and have opportunity to cast their vote to represent our congregation. Election ballots and supporting information for the Board of Directors and the mission projects of the LWMS have been placed in the mailboxes of the ladies of Salem.  If you would like to learn more about LWMS, the website offers a lot of information at https://www.lwms.org/. Laura Johnson and Kathy Grill are Salem’s co-reporters and would be happy to share more about the many ways LWMS helps to spread the Gospel at home and abroad.

PIONEERS END OF SEASON:  The LGP and LBP will be meeting today, Sunday May 5th from 3:00 – 5:00 pm for their end of Pioneer Season award ceremony and celebration.  Please see Amy Gilner or Ken Evans if you have any questions. Thanks for the great year!

MOWERS:  We are in need of volunteers to mow the lawn and berms. Please let Ken Evans know if you can help!

FLOWERS FOR WORSHIP:  We all have the opportunity to supply a fresh bouquet of flowers for the altar during a worship service.  Whether in celebration, memory, or just for the many blessings we have received, please sign up for a Sunday on the flower chart in the entry hall.  The bouquets are $16.00 for one and $24.00 for two.  Please make your check out to the Salem and everything else will be taken care of for you. Please speak to Nancy Juhl if you have any questions.
