Lutheran Girl Pioneers (LGP) is a Christ-centered youth ministry for the girls, ages K-12. Although camping and building fires might come to mind when you hear “Pioneers,” today they do so much more! Our girls have the opportunity to discover and develop interests in a wide variety of areas. Girls may choose to explore art, drama, archery, photography, leadership, hunting safety, swimming, etc. We also strive to help our girls become happy, confident members of their church, home, community and schools, while living a Christ Centered life.
Our Girl Pioneer group is led by Amy Gilner. It meets once a month, for fellowship, devotions, prayer and special projects. The meetings vary based on which achievement they’re working on, but they always aim to lift each other up and encourage love, respect and kindness. Once a year they pick a nursing home or assisted living center to spend time with, making holiday crafts with the residents. Every February they host a Pine Car Derby where the girls design, build and race their cars. Family and Friends are also welcome to participate in their own race afterwards. Recently the girls have been assigned an LGP Pen-pal from other LGP caravans around the country. They also have “adopted LGP Grandmas,” who are older women from our church who may not have family in the area and would appreciate little notes, cards and crafts from time to time.
